About MeritFit

We built MeritFit for our own family when we realized how many other families were also struggling to build a college list. It's the tool we wished existed when we started our college search, without the hefty price tag.

The problem we set out to solve

Most families start with the same short list of well-known schools, and many of those schools offer little or no merit aid. Middle-class families get squeezed: too much income for significant need-based aid, not enough to pay a full sticker price. Meanwhile, hundreds of strong colleges publish scholarships that could take thousands of dollars a year off the price for a student with your student's record.

That information is public, but it is scattered across thousands of college websites and federal data files. MeritFit gathers it, matches it to your student, and shows you a realistic price for each school.

What we believe

  • Families deserve real numbers. We show estimated net prices, not sticker prices, and we say how confident each estimate is.
  • Every claim should be checkable. Each scholarship links to the college's own page, and every school links to its official Net Price Calculator.
  • Good guidance should be affordable. Private college consultants can cost thousands of dollars. MeritFit is a one-time payment of $79 for one student or $99 for a family.
